Why the name, "Avenue?"

When we set out to launch a new church in Needham, we didn’t want a flashy or trendy name. We wanted something meaningful to the community that also reflected the character of Jesus.

Needham is connected by five major avenues, linking the town to its surrounding communities and uniting its two main areas—Town Center and Needham Heights. Historically, the Western Suburbs of Boston have seen towns split off to form new, insular communities. Yet, despite human divisions, avenues continue to connect them.

An avenue is "a way of arriving at your destination," and Jesus declared Himself the ultimate and only way to the Father. Avenue Church exists to connect the Western Suburbs to the Gospel—starting in Needham and expanding into the five surrounding towns, home to nearly a quarter million people.
